DMARC

A policy DNS which combines SPF and DKIM to combat the usurpation of email domains.

Simple definition

DMARC tells the recipient servers what to do with emails that claim to come from your domain but fail authentication checks.

Technical definition

Domain-based MessageAccounting, Reporting and Conformance checks the alignment of the visible domain with SPF or DKIM. The policy can be either a nun, a san or a san and include reporting addresses.

What is it used for ?

Observer sending sources, reduce the phishing and protect the reputation of the estate.

Practical example

After a period of analysis in p=none, the company gradually changes to p=quarantine and then p=reject.
