How do I reduce a PDF or file size?
Choose your file, select a compression level, then start processing. Light mode prioritizes quality, balanced mode suits most use cases, and strong mode targets the smallest file size.
What does BAOI do for each format?
- PDF: stream optimization and/or image recompression with Ghostscript/qpdf when available on the server.
- JPG, PNG, WebP: re-encoding at an appropriate quality level without changing dimensions.
- DOCX, XLSX, PPTX: optimization of the ZIP container and embedded images without changing document structure.
- TXT, CSV, JSON, LOG: creation of a highly compressed ZIP/GZIP archive.
Privacy
No external API is used. Files are processed in the server temporary directory, are not stored in the WordPress database or media library, and the download link is signed and time-limited.
Why might a file not get smaller?
A file that is already optimized, contains few images, or already uses efficient compression may produce no useful gain. BAOI then keeps the original and does not offer a misleading “compressed” file that is larger.

What happens to the original file during compressing a file?
Work on a copy and keep the original until the generated PDF has been reviewed. The tool should not become your only source copy.
What should I verify after compressing a file?
Open the result and check page count, order, orientation, dimensions, visual rendering and any links or interactive elements that matter.
Can the operation affect print quality or file size?
Yes. Resizing, compression, conversion and page composition can change dimensions, image quality or file size; compare the output with the intended use.
