Simple definition
The gateway is the gateway to the local network. Without it, a computer can communicate locally but generally cannot reach the Internet.
Technical definition
It corresponds to the road used when no more precise road corresponds to the destination. On a post, it usually points to the router’s or the19th century address, the address of the router.
What’s the point?. ?

Concrete example.
The 192.168.10.25 is using the 192.168.10.1 gateway to join a server located in another network.
